Sir Brendan Foster is a British former long-distance runner, athletics commentator and road race organiser, who founded the Great North Run, one of the sport's most high profile half-marathon races. As an athlete, he won the bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics, and the gold medal in the 5,000 metres at the 1974 European Championships and the 10,000 metres at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Brendan Lowry is an Irish former sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Ferbane and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from 1981 until 1992. Lowry scored 0-3 to help his team to victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1982, the most recent occasion that Offaly won the Sam Maguire Cup. His brothers Mick and Seán also played in the 1982 All Ireland winning side. Breandan managed the Westmeath Senior Gaelic football side from 1997 until 2000.

Brendan Hugh Francis Murray is an Irish singer and former member of the Irish boyband Hometown. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Dying to Try" but failed to qualify to the final. He then competed in The X Factor UK in 2018, finishing in fifth place.
