Franz Gerhard Wegeler was a German physician from Bonn, who, in his youth, was a close friend of composer Ludwig van Beethoven. He was the father of historian Julius Stephan Wegeler (1807-1883).

John Crepps Wickliffe Beckham was the 35th Governor of Kentucky and a United States Senator from Kentucky. He was the state's first popularly-elected senator after the passage of the Seventeenth Amendment.

Robert Marek Korzeniowski is a Polish former racewalker. He won four gold medals at the Summer Olympics and three at world championships. Korzeniowski is a three-peat winner of the 50 km walk at the Summer Olympics. He won 1996 in Atlanta, 2000 in Sydney, and 2004 in Athens. In addition, he became the first athlete to claim both the long distance and the short distance crown, when he won the 20 km title at the 2000 games.

Abdellah Taïa is a Moroccan writer and filmmaker who writes in the French language and has been based in Paris since 1998. He has published eight novels, many of them heavily autobiographical. His books have been translated into Basque, Dutch, German, English, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish, Danish and Arabic.

Gabrielle Renard was a French woman who became an important member of the family of the painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, first becoming their nanny, and subsequently a frequent model for the artist. The bond she developed with the Renoirs' second son, the future filmmaker Jean Renoir, lasted throughout their lives. Upon her marriage in 1921, she became Gabrielle Renard-Slade.

Jordi Savall i Bernadet is a Catalan conductor and viol player. He has been one of the major figures in the field of Western early music since the 1970s, largely responsible for popularizing the viol family of instruments in contemporary performance and recording. As a historian of early music his repertoire features everything from medieval, Renaissance and Baroque through to the Classical and Romantic periods. He has incorporated non-western musical traditions in his work; including African vernacular music.

Tarō Gomi is a Japanese children's book writer who is currently one of Japan's most prolific children's book illustrators and authors. He is a graduate of the Kuwazawa Design Institute. His first children's picture book was published in 1973. He has published more than 400 books in Japan and his work has been widely translated into other languages.

Jarbas Vasconcelos is a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He represented Pernambuco in the Federal Senate from 2007 to 2015. Previously, he was governor of Pernambuco from 1999 to 2006. He is a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party.

Charles Ainslie Crichton was an English film director and editor. Born in Wallasey, Cheshire, he became best known for directing many comedies produced at Ealing Studios and had a 40-year career editing and directing many films and television programmes. For the acclaimed comedy A Fish Called Wanda (1988), Crichton was nominated for both the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Franz Oppenhoff was a German lawyer who was appointed mayor of the city of Aachen by Allied forces and subsequently murdered on the order of Heinrich Himmler.
