He previously served as Minister of Youth and Sports (1999–2004), Minister of Education (2004–2009), and Minister of Home Affairs (2009–2013). As Acting Minister of Transport (2013–2014) he came to international prominence in March 2014, as the minister responsible for investigating the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

Aleksey Konstantinovich Pushkov is a Russian politician who has been Senator from Perm Krai since 29 September 2016. He is also a former Deputy of the State Duma and former head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian Parliament. As a member of the United Russia political party in the federation council, he is the chairman of the Commission on Information Policy.

In 1950, Oliver Brown was recruited to be part of the Topeka NAACP legal action to desegregate public elementary schools in the city. At the time, Brown was a welder for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad and was studying to become a minister. Attorney Charles Scott, who was his childhood friend, asked him to join the roster of parents who would become plaintiffs in the organization’s case against the Topeka Board of Education.

Ertuğrul Osman, also known as Osman Ertuğrul Osmanoğlu with a surname as required by the Turkish Republic, was an Imperial Prince of the Ottoman Empire and the 43rd Head of the Imperial House of Osman from 1994 until his death. Had the Ottoman Empire not been dissolved and succeeded by the Republic of Turkey, he would have become caliph and Sultan Osman V. He was also known as Sultan Ertuğrul II in reference to Ertuğrul, the father of Osman I.

Dorsey Ryan Crowe was an American politician who served as alderman of Chicago's 21st ward from 1919 to 1923 and upon its redistricting into the 42nd ward from 1923 to his death. A Democrat serving most of the Near North Side, he represented such affluent constituencies as the Gold Coast and Streeterville as well as such poor areas as Cabrini–Green and Goose Island. At the time of his death he was the Dean of the Chicago City Council, as well as the last alderman from the era of partisan aldermanic elections and when wards elected two aldermen each. An alderman for 43 years, and the last to have served under a Republican mayor, he is as of 2018 the third-longest serving alderman in Chicago history, behind Ed Burke of the 14th ward and John Coughlin of the 1st.
