He was drafted 28th overall by the Hurricanes in the first round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He is the younger brother of Montreal Canadiens forward Nick Suzuki.

Tsuneo Suzuki is a Japanese politician serving his sixth term in the House of Representatives in the Diet as a member of the Liberal Democratic Party. A native of Yokohama, Kanagawa and graduate of Waseda University, he was elected for the first time in 1986 after an unsuccessful run in 1983, both as a member of the now-defunct party New Liberal Club.
