Stephen Edward Blaire was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the fifth Bishop of Stockton from March 16, 1999 until January 23, 2018.

Philippe Leroy was a member of the Senate of France from 2001 until 2017, representing the Moselle department. He was a member of the Union for a Popular Movement.

Gilbert Brunat was a French rugby union player who played wing and hooker.

Jimmy Banks was an American soccer defender. After a standout career at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Banks spent six seasons playing indoor soccer with the Milwaukee Wave. He also earned 35 caps with the national team between 1986 and 1991, including two games at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. After retiring from playing professionally, Banks entered the coaching ranks with both youth clubs and the Milwaukee School of Engineering men's team. Banks died of stomach cancer on April 26, 2019.

Irwin Fridovich was an American biochemist who, together with his graduate student Joe M. McCord, discovered the enzymatic activity of copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (SOD),—to protect organisms from the toxic effects of superoxide free radicals formed as a byproduct of normal oxygen metabolism. Subsequently, Fridovich's research group also discovered the manganese-containing and the iron-containing SODs from E coli and the mitochondrial MnSOD (SOD2), now known to be an essential mammalian protein. He spent the rest of his career studying the biochemical mechanisms of SOD and of biological superoxide toxicity, using bacteria as model systems. Fridovich was also Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry at Duke University.

Vasily Nikolayevich Likhachyov was a Russian politician, the Permanent Representative for Russia to the European Council (1998), and Deputy Minister of Justice in Russia. Since 2011 until his death he was a Russian State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

Bernard Tchoullouyan was a French judoka. He won a world title in 1981 and an Olympic bronze medal in 1980. He died on 7 January 2019, at the age of 65.
