Giya Kancheli was a Georgian composer. He was born in Tbilisi, Georgia but resided in Belgium.

Claudio Benjamín Naranjo Cohen was a Chilean-born psychiatrist of Arabic/Moorish, Spanish and Jewish descent who is considered a pioneer in integrating psychotherapy and the spiritual traditions. He was one of the three successors named by Fritz Perls, a principal developer of Enneagram of Personality theories and a founder of the Seekers After Truth Institute. He was also an elder statesman of the US and global human potential movement and the spiritual renaissance of the late 20th century. He was the author of various books.

Friederike Else Käte de Haas was a German politician for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). In 1990, she was elected as a member of the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony, serving until 2009. She also chaired the German War Graves Commission. In 2012, de Haas received the Order of Merit of the Free State of Saxony.

Anna van der Leeuw, better known by her stage name Anne Vanderlove, was a Dutch-born French singer and songwriter, known as the French Joan Baez.

Carlos Altamirano Orrego was a Chilean lawyer and socialist politician. He was the general secretary of the Chilean Socialist Party (PS) between 1971 and 1979. Before that, he was deputy from 1961 to 1965 and senator from 1965 to 1973. He escaped after Pinochet's coup d'état on September 11, 1973, and lived as a refugee in Cuba. As a young man he won medals in the high jump event at the 1946 and 1947 South American Championships in Athletics.

Lothar Kobluhn was a German professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Kobluhn, who was playing for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen at the time, was the Bundesliga's top scorer in the 1970–71 season, scoring 24 goals. Kobluhn had to wait 36 years for the top scorer trophy to be awarded because his club at the time, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, was involved in the Bundesliga scandal. He finally received his award in 2007.

Theo Adam was a German operatic bass-baritone and bass singer who had an international career in opera, concert and recital from 1949. He was a member of the Staatsoper Dresden for his entire career, and sang at the Bayreuth Festival from 1952 to 1980. He particularly excelled in portraying roles by Richard Wagner, especially Wotan in Der Ring des Nibelungen, which he also performed at the Metropolitan Opera, among others. In concert, he was a much admired Bach singer and also drew acclaim for his interpretation of the title character of Mendelssohn's Elijah. He was a voice teacher at the Musikhochschule Dresden.

François Weyergans was a Belgian writer and director. His father, Franz Weyergans, was a Belgian and also a writer, while his mother was from Avignon in France. François Weyergans was elected to the Académie française on 26 March 2009, taking the 32nd seat which became vacant with the death of Alain Robbe-Grillet in 2008.
