Sir Peter Kenilorea KBE was a Solomon Islander politician, officially styled The Rt Hon. Sir Peter Kenilorea as a member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. He was the first Prime Minister of an independent Solomon Islands, from 1978-81, and also served a second term from 1984-86.

Mildred Shapley Matthews was a book editor and writer known for astronomy books. She was the daughter of astronomers Harlow Shapley and Martha Betz Shapley; her father named the asteroid 878 Mildred for her.

Pierre Fauchon was a French politician. He was a member of the Senate of France from 1992 to 2011. He represented the Loir-et-Cher department and was a member of the Union for French Democracy Party.

Halfdan Theodor Mahler was a Danish physician. He served three terms as director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) from 1973 to 1988, and is widely known for his effort to combat tuberculosis and his role in having shaped the landmark Alma Ata Declaration that defined the Health for All by the Year 2000 strategy.
