Peter Pitirimovich Sorokin was an American Russian physicist and co-inventor of the dye laser. He was born in Boston and grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts. He attended Harvard University, receiving a BA degree in 1952 and a PhD in Applied Physics in 1958; his PhD thesis adviser was Nicolaas Bloembergen.

Law-lin Tsi was a former Chinese actress and Cantonese opera singer from Hong Kong. Tsi is credited with over 140 films.

Nelson Doubleday Jr. was the owner and the next-to-last president and CEO of Doubleday and Company before its sale to Bertelsmann A.G. in 1986. He was instrumental in the company's purchase of the New York Mets in 1980.

Arch Alfred Moore Jr. was an American lawyer and Republican politician from West Virginia. He began his political career as a state legislator in 1952. He was elected the 28th and 30th Governor of West Virginia, serving from 1969 until 1977 and again from 1985 until 1989. He is the father of U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
