Thomas John Ashton, 3rd Baron Ashton of Hyde, was the eldest son of Thomas Ashton, 2nd Baron Ashton of Hyde and Marjorie Nell Brookes. He succeeded his father as Baron Ashton of Hyde on the latter's death on 21 March 1983.

Yosef (Joseph) "Tommy" Lapid was a Serbian-born Israeli radio and television presenter, playwright, journalist, politician and government minister known for his sharp tongue and acerbic wit. Lapid headed the secular-liberal Shinui party from 1999 to 2006. He fiercely opposed the ultra-Orthodox political parties and actively sought to exclude any religious observance from the legal structure of the Israeli State.

Diego Catalán was a Spanish philologist. He was the grandson of famed philologist, Ramón Menéndez Pidal, and María Goyri de Menéndez Pidal. Catalán died of heart disease on 9 April 2008, at the age of 83.

Andreas Zeier Cappelen was a Norwegian jurist and politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Vang, Hedmark.

Stig Olin, né Högberg was a Swedish actor, theatre director, songwriter and singer. He was the father of actress Lena Olin and singer Mats Olin. He was married to film actresses Britta Holmberg and Helena Kallenbäck.

Geoffrey Arthur Holland Pearson, was a Canadian diplomat and author. He was the son of former Prime Minister of Canada Lester B. Pearson and Maryon Pearson.
