Wilhelmus Frederik van Leeuwen was a Dutch politician and Mayor of Amsterdam between 1901 and 1910. Born in The Hague, he studied at the University of Amsterdam and led the student union there. Leaving with a law doctorate, he moved to Amsterdam to practice law. As well as being the mayor of Amsterdam, he was the first Vice-President of the Council of State to not be a member of the nobility.

Gordon Stewart Northcott was a Canadian serial killer, child rapist, and child abductor.

Jean Leon Gerome Ferris was an American painter best known for his series of 78 scenes from American history, entitled The Pageant of a Nation, the largest series of American historical paintings by a single artist.

Marie Juliette Louvet was the lover of the then unmarried Prince Louis II of Monaco and was the mother of his only child, Princess Charlotte of Monaco.

Émile Billard was a sailor from France, who represented his native country at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Billard took the gold in the 10 to 20 ton.

Waldemar Mordechai Wolff Haffkine was a bacteriologist from the Russian Empire who later became a French citizen. He emigrated to France and worked at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, where he developed an anti-cholera vaccine that he tried out successfully in India. He is recognized as the first microbiologist who developed and used vaccines against cholera and bubonic plague. He tested the vaccines on himself. Lord Joseph Lister named him "a saviour of humanity".

Rafail Sergeevich Levitsky was a Russian Empire and Soviet genre, romantic, and impressionist artist who was an active participant in the Peredvizhniki (Itinerant) Movement.
