Te Ioteba Tamuera Uriam was a politician, writer and musician of Kiribati. He was from Tamana. He wrote the Gilbertese and English lyrics and the music of the national anthem, "Kunan Kiribati".

Dominic Ignatius Ekandem, was a Roman Catholic cardinal and was the first West African Catholic Bishop. He also founded the Missionary Society of Saint Paul of Nigeria (M.S.P.).

Edwin Eugene "Gene" Aldrin Sr. was an aviator and officer in the United States Army during World War I and World War II. He was assistant commandant of the Army's first test pilot school at McCook Field, Ohio, from 1919 to 1922, and founded the engineering school there that later became the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson AFB. The Edwin E. Aldrin Sr. Award is presented to an AFIT graduate for leadership and accomplishing AFIT's educational objectives in an outstanding manner. He was the father of astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

André Gabriello (1896–1975) was a French film actor. A character actor known for his supporting roles, notable appearances included Jean Renoir's Partie de campagne (1936) and Maurice Tourneur's Cecile Is Dead (1944). He was the father of the actress Suzanne Gabriello.
