James Benjamin Blish was an American science fiction and fantasy writer. He is best known for his Cities in Flight novels, and his series of Star Trek novelizations written with his wife, J. A. Lawrence. He is credited with creating the term "gas giant" to refer to large planetary bodies.

Timothy Patrick Bowes-Lyon, 16th and 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, was a British nobleman and peer. He was the second son of The 15th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and the nephew of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, wife of King George VI. He was a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.

Charles W. Engelhard Jr. was an American businessman who controlled an international mining and metals conglomerate founded by his father, Engelhard, as well as a major owner in Thoroughbred horse racing, and a candidate in the 1955 New Jersey State Senate Elections.
