Veronica Guerin was an Irish crime reporter who was murdered by drug lords. Born in Dublin, she was an athlete in school, and later played on the Irish national teams for both football and basketball. After studying accountancy she ran a public-relations firm for seven years, before working for Fianna Fáil and as an election agent for Seán Haughey. She became a reporter in 1990, writing for the Sunday Business Post and Sunday Tribune. In 1994 she began writing about crime for the Sunday Independent. In 1996 she was fatally shot while stopped at a traffic light. The shooting caused national outrage in Ireland. Investigation into her death led to a number of arrests and convictions.

Jason Daniel Polan was an American artist born in Ann Arbor, Michigan who lived and worked in New York City. Polan's illustrations have been published in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Metropolis Magazine, and Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern, among others.

Lolo Ferrari, born Eve Valois, was a French dancer, pornographic actress, actress and singer billed as "the woman with the largest breasts in the world".

Stephen Austin Eubanks was an American motivational speaker on addiction and recovery. He was a survivor of the Columbine High School massacre, in which his best friend, 17-year-old Corey DePooter, was killed and Eubanks was shot in his hand and knee. Eubanks struggled with opioid addiction after the shooting. Eubanks was the chief operations officer for the Foundry Treatment Center.

Heriberto Lazcano Lazcano, commonly referred to by his aliases Z-3 and El Lazca, was a Mexican drug lord and the leader of Los Zetas drug cartel. He was one of the most-wanted Mexican drug lords.

Mike Millard, nicknamed "Mike The Mic" was an avid concert taper in the 1970s and 1980s, recording mostly Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones concerts in California, especially at the Los Angeles Forum. He taped virtually every show at the Forum from 1974 to 1980. Many of his recordings found their way into the hands of bootleggers who sold Millard's work to fans.

Carlos Pizarro Leongómez was the fourth commander of the Colombian guerrilla group 19th of April Movement (M-19). Pizarro later ran for president of Colombia after the demobilization of M-19 that transformed the group into the political party, M-19 Democratic Alliance (AD/M-19). Pizarro was assassinated on 26 April 1990.

Jerzy Popiełuszko was a Polish Roman Catholic priest who became associated with the opposition Solidarity trade union in communist Poland. He was murdered in 1984 by three agents of Służba Bezpieczeństwa, who were shortly thereafter tried and convicted of the murder.

His arrest in 2008 and subsequent death after eleven months in police custody generated international media attention and triggered both official and unofficial inquiries into allegations of fraud, theft and human rights violations in Russia.

Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty was an Egyptian considered to be the heaviest living woman in the world and the second heaviest woman in history, after Carol Yager. However, at 4 feet 7 ¹⁄₂ inches (141 cm), Eman was about a foot shorter than 5-foot-7-inch (170 cm) Yager, giving her the highest recorded BMI at 251.1 and body fat percentage. Her initial weight was claimed to be around 500 kilograms (1,100 lb).
