Marcos René Maidana is an Argentine former professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2014. He was a world champion in two weight classes, having held the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title from 2011 to 2012, and the WBA welterweight title from 2013 to 2014. A versatile brawler in the ring, Maidana was well known for his formidable punching power, and was never stopped in any of his five losses. He famously outbrawled and withstood punishing blows from Floyd Mayweather, Jr. during their first bout, but lost to Mayweather via a highly controversial majority decision.

Lederman was Director Emeritus of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in Batavia, Illinois. He founded the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, in Aurora, Illinois in 1986, where he was Resident Scholar Emeritus from 2012 until his death in 2018.
