Stepan Prokofyevich Timoshenko, was a Ukrainian, Russian, and later, an American engineer and academician. He is considered to be the father of modern engineering mechanics. An inventor and one of the pioneering mechanical engineers at the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. A founding member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Timoshenko wrote seminal works in the areas of engineering mechanics, elasticity and strength of materials, many of which are still widely used today. Having started his scientific career in the Russian Empire, Timoshenko emigrated to the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes during the Russian Civil War and then to the United States.

Chester Cortez Thompson is an American musician. He is primarily a drummer, percussionist, session musician, producer, and teacher. Thompson is perhaps best known for working with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention from 1973 to 1975, and with the progressive rock band Genesis from 1977 to 1992, and again in 2007. He is a current member of his jazz group, the Chester Thompson Trio, formed in 2011.

Mann Rubin was an American film and television screenwriter, whose credits included The Best of Everything in 1959, Brainstorm in 1965, Warning Shot in 1967, The First Deadly Sin in 1980, and The Human Shield in 1991. He also taught screenwriting within the cinema and TV department at the University of Southern California for more than ten years.
