Heinrich Wölfflin
Heinrich Wölfflin was a Swiss art historian, esthetician and educator, whose objective classifying principles were influential in the development of formal analysis in art history in the early 20th century. He taught at Basel, Berlin and Munich in the generation that raised German art history to pre-eminence. His three great books, still consulted, are Renaissance und Barock (1888), Die Klassische Kunst, and Kunstgeschichtliche Grundbegriffe.

Jürg Häusermann
Jürg Häusermann is a Swiss-German media scholar and emeritus professor. He studied Germanic, Russian language and literature and French linguistics at the University of Zurich and the Moscow State Linguistic University. Häusermann doctorate in 1977 in Zurich. 1985 to 1989 he was visiting professor at the University of Trieste in Italy. From 1993 to 2017, Häusermann was professor of media analysis and production at the University of Tübingen. He was director of the German seminar at Tübingen.

He was elected to the Swiss Federal Council on 8 December 1982 and, for health reason, resigned his office on 20 October 1984. He is affiliated to the Free Democratic Party. During his office time he held the Federal Department of Justice and Police.
Charles Eugene Lancelot Brown
Charles Eugene Lancelot Brown founded Brown, Boveri & Cie (BBC) — later ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB) — with Walter Boveri. He was born in Winterthur, northern Switzerland, and was one of six children. His mother was Swiss and his father, the British engineer Charles Brown (1827–1905), was the founder of SLM – Schweizerische Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik.
