The sketch comedy television show Putous made her a household name in Finland. She was selected as Best Actress in 2015 Shanghai International Film Festival for her performance in Wildeye. She has also won two Jussi Awards and is now starring in the HBO series Beforeigners being seen worldwide.

Maria Karoliina Ohisalo is a Finnish politician. She is a member of the Green League and has served as the party's leader since 2019. In the 2019 parliamentary election she was elected with 11,797 votes. She was named Minister of the Interior in the Rinne Cabinet and continued with her duties in the following Marin Cabinet.
