György Sándor Ligeti was a Hungarian-Austrian composer of contemporary classical music. He has been described as "one of the most important avant-garde composers in the latter half of the twentieth century" and "one of the most innovative and influential among progressive figures of his time".

Mircea Drăgan was a Romanian film director. He directed 23 films between 1955 and 1992. His 1961 film Thirst was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival where it won the Silver Prize. Two years later, his film Lupeni 29 was entered into the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival and it also won the Silver Prize. He was a member of the jury at the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1973 film Explosion was entered into the 8th Moscow International Film Festival where it won a Diploma.

Helmuth Robert Duckadam is a Romanian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper and the current president of FC Steaua București.

Tristan Tzara was a Romanian and French avant-garde poet, essayist and performance artist. Also active as a journalist, playwright, literary and art critic, composer and film director, he was known best for being one of the founders and central figures of the anti-establishment Dada movement. Under the influence of Adrian Maniu, the adolescent Tzara became interested in Symbolism and co-founded the magazine Simbolul with Ion Vinea and painter Marcel Janco. During World War I, after briefly collaborating on Vinea's Chemarea, he joined Janco in Switzerland. There, Tzara's shows at the Cabaret Voltaire and Zunfthaus zur Waag, as well as his poetry and art manifestos, became a main feature of early Dadaism. His work represented Dada's nihilistic side, in contrast with the more moderate approach favored by Hugo Ball.

Alexandra Ioana Stan is a Romanian singer-songwriter. Born and raised in the city of Constanța, she made her worldwide breakthrough with the 2010 single "Mr. Saxobeat", which was written and produced by Marcel Prodan and Andrei Nemirschi. They had previously discovered Stan at a karaoke bar in 2009 and signed her to their label, Maan Records. "Mr. Saxobeat" had followed the singer's debut single, "Lollipop " (2009), which brought her moderate fame in Romania. "Mr. Saxobeat" quickly achieved commercial success locally and abroad, reaching number one in several countries and gathering various certifications. Saxobeats, Stan's debut studio album, was released in August 2011 and features the follow-up singles "Get Back (ASAP)" (2011) and "Lemonade" (2012), which fared moderately well in Europe.

Sorin Aristotel Avram was a Romanian football player and coach.

Radu Gabrea was a Romanian film director and screenwriter. He directed more than twenty films between 1969 and 2016. He showed his first film in the Locarno Festival.

Cristian Măcelaru is a Romanian conductor.

Horia Tecău is a Romanian tennis player currently ranked World No. 11 in doubles. He turned pro in 2003 and reached the men's doubles finals of the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Wimbledon Championships with Robert Lindstedt before winning it in 2015 with Jean-Julien Rojer, with whom he also won the 2017 US Open. Tecău also won the 2012 Australian Open mixed doubles title with Bethanie Mattek-Sands and the 2015 ATP World Tour Finals with Rojer.

Florin Mergea is a Romanian tennis player and a doubles specialist. He has reached the final of the ATP World Tour Finals in 2015 and won an ATP Masters title at the Mutua Madrid Open earlier that year. He achieved a career-high ATP ranking of World No. 7 in doubles and World No. 243 in singles.
