Wu Zuguang was a Chinese playwright, film director and social critic who has been called a "legendary figure in Chinese art and literary circles". He authored more than 40 plays and film scripts, including the patriotic drama City of Phoenix, one of the most influential plays during the Second Sino-Japanese War, and Return on a Snowy Night, which is generally considered his masterpiece. He directed The Soul of the Nation, Hong Kong's first colour film, based on his own historical drama Song of Righteousness.

Qin Yilu was a military officer who served under the general and warlord Lü Bu in the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. Allowing for variant writing in the records, Qin Yilu was probably the same person as two others named Qin Yi.

Lan Jen Chu (1913–1973) was a noted electrical engineer and a professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Chu is noted for his work on the fundamental limitations for small antennas, also known as Chu's limit.

Shohrat Zakir is a Chinese politician of Uyghur origin and, since December 2014, the Chairman of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and the deputy party chief of Xinjiang. Since October 2017, he is the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. He was born in Yining (Ghulja). He went to Tianjin University. He was the former Mayor of Ürümqi. He studied computer science in Hubei Province.

Xia Junfeng was a street food seller in China who was convicted of murder in 2009 and executed in 2013.

Ning Jizhe is a Chinese economist and senior official currently serving as the director of the National Bureau of Statistics of China and Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission.

Ji Bingxuan is a politician of the People's Republic of China. Since 2013 he has served as one of the Vice Chairmen of the 12th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. From 2008 to 2013 he held the highest post in Heilongjiang province, serving as its Communist Party Chief.

Chen Geng was a Chinese military officer who served as a senior general in the People's Liberation Army. Enlisting in the warlord's army at the age of 13, Chen Geng joined the Communist Party of China in 1922 and was accepted to Whampoa Military Academy in 1924. He approached Chiang Kai-shek and even saved his life by preventing him from committing suicide. He served as a Communist spy in the National Revolutionary Army for 6 years. After being discovered, he joined the Communist base in Jiangxi and participated in the Long March. He fought the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War and then the Nationalists during the Chinese Civil War. Once the victory obtained, he went to Vietnam to help Hồ Chí Minh against the French during the First Indochina War and then participated in the Korean War with the People's Volunteer Army. He became a senior general in 1955. He then founded an academy of military technologies but died before finalizing the ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programs.

Fang Zhenwu, or Fang Cheng-wu, was a general of the Republic of China and anti-Japanese leader. He ran afoul of the Kuomintang leadership and was assassinated in 1941.

Lü Bin is a Chinese professional boxer who challenged for the WBA light-flyweight title in 2018. As an amateur he won a bronze medal at 2013 Asian Amateur Championships in the light-flyweight division and represented China at the 2016 Summer Olympics, reaching the round of 16.
