Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël or Paul Gabriël was a painter, draftsman, watercolorist, and etcher who belonged to the Hague School.

Jean Henri van Swinden was a Dutch mathematician and physicist who taught in Franeker and Amsterdam.

Pieter 'Piet' Klijnveld was a Dutch accountant who started a practice that after several mergers would grow into the international accounting firm KPMG.

Nicolaes Maes was a Dutch painter known for his genre scenes, portraits, religious compositions and the occasional still life. A pupil of Rembrandt in Amsterdam, he returned to work in his native city of Dordrecht for 20 years. In the latter part of his career he returned to Amsterdam where he became the leading portrait painter of his time. Maes contributed to the development of genre painting in the Netherlands and was the most prominent portrait painter working in Amsterdam in the final three decades of the 17th century.

Gerardus Johannes Sizoo was the first professor of physics at the Vrije Universiteit. He is notable for the establishment and development of the applied physics laboratory in 1930 and the establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the Vrije Universiteit.

Herman Heijenbrock, was a Dutch writer, painter, pastel draughtsman, and lithographer. He founded the "Museum van den Arbeid" in 1923, which later became NEMO Science Museum.

Albert Heijn was a Dutch entrepreneur who was the original founder of Albert Heijn, which is now the largest food retailer in the Netherlands. On his wedding day in 1887, he took over the grocery store of his father, Jan Simonsz Heijn, and the supermarket chain founded by his grandson still carries his name to this day.
