Mathias Coureur is a Martiniquais international footballer who plays as a winger for Cherno More Varna in the Bulgarian First League.

Aimé Fernand David Césaire was a Francophone and Martinican poet, an Afro-Caribbean author and politician from the region of Martinique. He was "one of the founders of the négritude movement in Francophone literature". His works include the book-length poem Cahier d'un retour au pays natal (1939), Une Tempête, a response to Shakespeare's play The Tempest, and Discours sur le colonialisme, an essay describing the strife between the colonizers and the colonized. His works have been translated into many languages.

Coralie Balmy is a French freestyle swimmer. Balmy was born in La Trinité, Martinique. She won her first senior title at the 2008 European Aquatics Championships in Eindhoven in the 4×200 m relay freestyle. At the same Championships she won the silver medal in the 400 m freestyle with the time of 4:04.15, all-time fourth fastest behind Federica Pellegrini's world record. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, she finished fourth in the 400 m freestyle final. On 6 December 2008 she set the world record for the 200 m freestyle at the French National Championships in Angers, France in a time of 1:53.16. At the 2012 Summer Olympics her 4 × 200 m freestyle team won the bronze medal in a time of 7:47.49. Jeanne "Jane" Nardal was a French writer, philosopher, teacher, and political commentator from Martinique. She and her sister, Paulette Nardal, are considered to have laid the theoretical and philosophical groundwork of the Négritude movement, a cultural, political, and literary movement, which first emerged in 1930s, Paris and sought to unite Black intellectuals in the current and former French colonies. The term "Négritude" itself was coined by Martiniquan writer-activist Aimé Césaire, one of the three individuals formally recognized as the "fathers" of the cultural movement, along with Senegalese poet Léopold Senghor and French Guianese writer Léon Damas. It was not until relatively recently, however, that the women involved in the Négritude movement, including Jane and Paulette Nardal, began to receive the recognition they were due.

Mélanie Johanna de Jesus dos Santos is a French artistic gymnast and a three-time French national all-around champion (2017-2019). Internationally, she is the 2019 European all-around champion and a two time European champion on floor exercise.

Léon Compère-Léandre was a shoemaker in Saint-Pierre on the French Caribbean island of Martinique when Mount Pelée erupted on May 8th, 1902, and destroyed the town. He was one of only 2 known survivors.

Emmanuel José Rivière is a Martiniquais professional footballer who currently play for Serie A club Crotone. Rivière primarily plays in the lead striker role, but can also operate on the wings. He was a French youth international having played at all levels before switching to represent the Martinique national football team.

Christiane Eda-Pierre was a French coloratura soprano of Martinican origin, who sang in a wide variety of roles, from baroque to contemporary works.
