Karly-Marina Loaiza, known professionally as Kali Uchis, is a Colombian-American singer and songwriter. She initially garnered music industry attention with her 2012 mixtape, Drunken Babble, which was described as "genre-defying". She released her first EP, Por Vida, in 2015 to further recognition. Her debut studio album, Isolation, was released in 2018 to widespread acclaim. Uchis' second studio album and her first Spanish language project, Sin Miedo ∞, was released in 2020.

She reached the world No. 1 ranking in women's doubles on the WTA Tour and had a career-high singles ranking of world No. 8, achieved on February 9, 2004. In her career, she won six singles and 37 doubles titles, including three Grand Slam titles and one Grand Slam mixed doubles title. Sugiyama held the all-time record, for both male and female players, for her 62 consecutive Grand Slam main draw appearances, until she was surpassed by Roger Federer at the 2015 Wimbledon Championships.
