He was part of the Chinese junior team that won the gold medals at the 2017, 2018 World Junior Championships, and 2018 Asian Junior Championships. Li represented his country competed at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and clinched the gold medal in the boys' singles event.
