Aubrey Kachingwe is a Malawian novelist and short-story writer. He was educated in Malawi and Tanzania. He is "famed for being the first Malawian writer to publish with the prestigious African Writers Series .. he published a political novel, No Easy Task, in 1966 just four years after African Writers Series was launched." It was his first and only novel. He has written many short stories published in local and international papers and magazines.

Wang Hai was a Chinese fighter pilot and general. A flying ace of the Korean War, he served as commander of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) from 1985 to 1992. He was awarded the rank of general in 1988.

Shanti Devi, known as Lugdi Devi in her past life, was an Indian woman who claimed to remember her previous life, and became the subject of reincarnation research. A commission set up by the Indian political leader Mahatma Gandhi supported her claim, while another report by researcher Bal Chand Nahata disputed it. Uria Timoteo Simango was a Mozambican Presbyterian minister and prominent leader of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) during the liberation struggle against Portuguese colonial rule. His precise date of death is unknown as he was extrajudicially executed by the post-independence government of Samora Machel.

William Joseph Cobb, best known by his ring and screen names of Happy Humphrey, Happy Farmer Humphrey, and "Squasher" Humphrey, was an American professional wrestler, known as the heaviest professional wrestler of all time. His most active period was in the 1950s and 1960s when he billed himself as "the world's largest wrestler". Humphrey averaged 750 lb (340 kg) during his career. Several times, he weighed in at over 800 lb (360 kg), and on one occasion he weighed over 900 lb (410 kg).

Abdelhafid Boussouf was an Algerian nationalist and a leader of the Front de libération nationale (FLN) during the Algerian War of Independence (1954–62). He was a member of the GPRA exile government, serving as minister of armaments. This body, the MALG, after independence evolved into the Securité militaire (SM), or military intelligence, which eventually emerged as a pillar of the military-backed regimes of Algeria, and whose successor organization (DRS) remains of overwhelming importance in Algerian politics today. After independence, however, he personally left politics and remained outside of the governing circle to pursue a career in business. He died on December 31, 1980 in Paris. His name was given to the university of his hometown Mila.

Hulusi Sayın was a general in the Turkish Gendarmerie, and may have been involved with the Gendarmerie's JITEM intelligence unit. He retired in 1989 and become an adviser to the Prime Minister's office. He was assassinated outside his home in January 1991; the assassination was claimed by Dev Sol, a leftist organization. At the time of his death Sayın was known to be advocating a peaceful solution to the Kurdish–Turkish conflict.
