Luis Aponte Martínez was Archbishop Emeritus of San Juan in Puerto Rico. To date he is the only Puerto Rican to have been elevated to a cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of San Juan for 34 years. He was a Cardinal Elector in the two conclaves of 1978 responsible for the elections of Popes John Paul I and John Paul II.

Sam Youd, known professionally as Christopher Samuel Youd, was a British writer, best known for science fiction under the pseudonym John Christopher, including the novels The Death of Grass, The Possessors, and the young-adult novel series The Tripods. He won the Guardian Prize in 1971 and the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis in 1976.

Donald McGill Marshman Jr. credited as D. M. Marshman, was an American screenwriter known mainly for his contribution to the film script for Sunset Boulevard.

Karel Černý was a Czech art director and production designer. He won an Academy Award in the category Best Art Direction for the film Amadeus. He died aged 92 in 2014.
