Fauja Singh is a British Sikh supercentenarian and former marathon runner of Punjabi Indian descent. He has beaten a number of world records in multiple age brackets, but none of his times have been ratified as records. His current personal best time for the London Marathon (2003) is 6 hours 2 minutes, and his marathon record, for age 90-plus, is 5 hours 40 minutes at the age of 92, at the 2003 Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

Henri Theodore Young was a convicted bank robber and murderer who, while serving one of a series of prison terms, attempted a 1939 escape from Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary with four other inmates. During the escape attempt two inmates were shot, and one died of his wounds. All surviving were quickly recaptured. Two of the men, Young and Rufus McCain, received sentences of solitary confinement and served them at Alcatraz for a period of three years. Eleven days after re-entering the Alcatraz general prison population, Young murdered fellow escapee McCain. No apparent motive was ever disclosed. Young's defense put Alcatraz and the penal system on trial, leading to questions about how the prison was run. In 1948, Young was transferred from Alcatraz to the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, Springfield, Missouri. He was later transferred to Washington State Penitentiary at Walla Walla upon completion of his federal sentence to begin a life sentence for the 1933 murder conviction.

Masayuki Mori was a Japanese actor and son of novelist Takeo Arishima. Mori appeared in many of Akira Kurosawa's films such as Rashomon, The Idiot and The Bad Sleep Well. He also starred in pictures by Kenji Mizoguchi (Ugetsu), Mikio Naruse and other prominent directors.

Erna Dorn was a victim of the politicised justice system in the German Democratic Republic. She is believed to be the only female to have been sentenced and executed in the aftermath of the East German uprising of 1953.

Hugo Kraas was a German SS commander during World War II. He served in the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and was the last commander of the SS Division Hitlerjugend. Kraas was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Following the war, Kraas was investigated by Italian and West German authorities for the murder of Italian Jews in 1943.

Àngeles Santos Torroella was a Catalan Spanish surrealist painter. Born in Portbou, Catalonia, she was the sister of the poet and art critic Rafael Santos Torroella. She married the painter Emilio Grau Sala. Her son is the painter ca:Julià Grau i Santos. In 2003 she received the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts, awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Spain and in 2005 she received the Creu de Sant Jordi.
