Thomas Sovereign Gates Jr. was an American politician and diplomat who served as Secretary of Defense from 1959 to 1961 and Secretary of the Navy from 1957 to 1959, both under President Dwight D. Eisenhower. During his tenure as Secretary of Defense, he established a task force to set nuclear target priorities. He also authorized U-2 reconnaissance flights, including the flight of Francis Gary Powers.

Darrell Ware (1906-1944) was an American screenwriter and film producer. Ware and Karl Tunberg were nominees for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 14th Academy Awards for their film Tall, Dark, and Handsome.

Bill Cummings nicknamed "Wild Bill", won the 1934 Indianapolis 500. Cummings died driving a passenger automobile on State Road 29 in Indianapolis, when he hit a guard rail and plunged 50 feet (15 m) into Lick Creek. Cummings was pulled from the water by passers-by while still alive, but died in the hospital two days later.

Harry John Holcombe was an American commercial, film, radio, television, theatre actor and radio director. He was perharps best remembered as "Grandpa" in the Country Time commercials, playing the role for ten years. Holcombe was also known for playing the recurring role of "Dr. J.P. Martin" in the western television series Bonanza.
