During the Battle of Toulon (1793), he became a supporter of Napoleon, nicknamed "Robespierre on horse". When his brother was arrested on 9 Thermidor, Robespierre volunteered to be arrested as well, and he was executed by guillotine like Maximilien and 20 other counter-revolutionaries.
