Emanuel Mendel was a German neurologist and psychiatrist who was a university professor and director of a polyclinic in Berlin. He was born in Bunzlau, Lower Silesia; into a Jewish family.

Giuseppe Gherardeschi was an Italian organist and composer. He was born and died in Pistoia.

Harold Stevens Hopper was an American singer/songwriter, film score composer and screenwriter.

Otto Eugen Schulz was a German botanist, born in Berlin. He was the brother of botanist Roman Schulz (1873–1926).

Eero Haapalainen was a Finnish politician, trade unionist and journalist, who was one of the most prominent figures of the Finnish socialist movement in the first two decades of the 1900s. In the 1918 Finnish Civil War he served as the commander-in-chief of the Red Guards. After the war, Haapalainen fled to Soviet Russia where he joined the exile Communist Party of Finland and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He was executed during the Great Purge in 1937.
