P. T. R. Palanivel Thiagarajan is an Indian politician and is the Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu from May 7th 2021. He is the son of the late P. T. R. Palanivel Rajan, also a politician. His grandfather, P. T. Rajan, was the Chief Minister of Madras Presidency from 4 April 1936, to 24 August 1936. He was also the last President of the Justice Party. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 2016 and 2021 from Madurai Central.

Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswami, is an Indian politician serving as the 7th and current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu since 16 February 2017. He is the joint coordinator of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He is also serving in the government of Tamil Nadu as Minister of Highways and Minor Ports since 16 May 2011. After 2016 assembly elections, he was given the additional responsibility of Ministry of Public Works by J.Jayalalitha.
