Alcaraz has a career high ATP singles ranking of 136 achieved on 19 October 2020.At the age of 16, Alcaraz made his ATP main draw debut at the 2020 Rio Open, defeating fellow countryman Albert Ramos Viñolas, 7–6^(7–2), 4–6, 7–6^(7–2), in three hours and 36 minutes, after receiving a wildcard for the singles main draw.
