James R. Langevin is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Rhode Island's 2nd congressional district since 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the first quadriplegic to serve in Congress; Langevin was appointed to be the first quadriplegic Speaker pro tempore of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019.

James Gallagher Fraser was a professional American football linebacker and punter who played in the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL). In the 1959 NFL draft, Fraser was selected in the 21st round by the Cleveland Browns. He played six seasons for the AFL's Denver Broncos (1962–1964), Kansas City Chiefs (1965), and Boston Patriots (1966) and the NFL's New Orleans Saints (1968).

James Patrick Baen was a U.S. science fiction publisher and editor. James Holley Douglas is an American politician from the state of Vermont. A Republican, he was elected the 80th governor of the state in 2002 and was reelected three times with a majority of the vote. On August 27, 2009, Douglas announced that he would not seek re-election for a fifth term in 2010. He left the office in January 2011.
