He was born and raised as a Christian.

Huang Qifan is a Chinese politician, best known for his term as the Mayor of Chongqing, one of China's four directly-controlled municipalities, between 2010 and 2016. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison upon being convicted on charges of bribery.

Huang Chih-hsiung is a Taiwanese athlete. Representing the Republic of China in the 2004 Summer Olympics, he won the silver medal at the Men's 68 kg Taekwondo event. At the 2000 Summer Olympics he won a bronze medal at the Men's 58 kg Taekwondo event.
