Horst Ludwig Georg Erich Wessel, commonly known as Horst Wessel, was a Berlin Sturmführer of the Sturmabteilung (SA), the Nazi Party's stormtroopers. After his murder in 1930, he was made into a martyr for the Nazi cause by Joseph Goebbels.

Helene Wessel was a German politician. From October 1949 to January 1952 she was chairwoman of the Centre Party and a founding member of the All-German People's Party, which eventually joined the SPD. She was elected to the Parlamentarischer Rat, the West German constitutional convention.

Franz Wessel was a German judge. He visited school in Königsberg and studied legal science in Königsberg, Heidelberg and Kiel. He was a judge in the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany in the 1950s.

Kai Wessel is a German film director. He has directed more than thirty films since 1988.
