José Eduardo de Barros Dutra was a Brazilian businessman, geologist and politician. He joined Petrobras in 1983, and served as CEO from 2003 to 2005. From 2007 to 2009, Dutra led the fuel distribution unit at Petrobras. He was elected president of the Workers' Party in 2009, then returned to the company in 2012. He was elected to the Federal Senate in 1994 and served until his death from cancer in 2015.

Mario Sereni was an Italian baritone, who sang leading roles at the New York Metropolitan Opera for many years.

Barbara Tuttle Snelling was elected the 78th Lieutenant Governor of Vermont in 1992 and served two terms (1993–1997), suffering a cerebral hemorrhage in 1996 while campaigning for governor. She was elected to the Vermont State Senate in 1998, where she served until she suffered a second stroke; she resigned in 2002.

Tatu Vanhanen was a Finnish political scientist, sociologist, and writer. He was a professor of political science at the University of Tampere in Tampere, Finland. Vanhanen was a coauthor with Richard Lynn of IQ and the Wealth of Nations (2002) and IQ and Global Inequality (2006), and author of Ethnic Conflicts Explained by Ethnic Nepotism (1999) and many other works.

Manoel Cândido Pinto de Oliveira was a Portuguese film director and screenwriter born in Cedofeita, Porto. He first began making films in 1927, when he and some friends attempted to make a film about World War I. In 1931 he completed his first film Douro, Faina Fluvial, a documentary about his home city Porto made in the city symphony genre. He made his feature film debut in 1942 with Aniki-Bóbó and continued to make shorts and documentaries for the next 30 years, gaining a minimal amount of recognition without being considered a major world film director. Among the numerous factors that prevented Oliveira from making more films during this time period were the political situation in Portugal, family obligations and money.

Mohammed Larbi Messari was a Moroccan politician, diplomat, historian and member of the Istiqlal Party. He was appointed Minister of Communications from 1998 until 2000. A historian and diplomat by profession, Larbi was considered an expert on Moroccan–Spanish relations. He also served as Morocco's Ambassador to Brazil from 1985 until 1991.

Corsino António Fortes was a Cape Verdean writer, poet and diplomat. He served as the first Ambassador of Cape Verde to Portugal from 1975 until 1981 following his country's independence.

Gualberto José Antonio Rodríguez Larreta Ferreira, better known as Antonio Larreta or Taco Larreta, was a Uruguayan writer, critic and actor. Born in Montevideo, he was active in Uruguay and Spain.
