Dietrich Stobbe was a German politician from Weepers, East Prussia. He was mayor of West Berlin from 2 May 1977 until 23 January 1981. From 1 November 1978 until 31 October 1979 he was also President of the Bundesrat.

Brian George William Manning was an English astronomer who discovered 19 minor planets. He was born in 1926 in Birmingham. He constructed his first mirror from a piece of glass that a World War II bomb blew out of the roof of the factory where his father worked. He began as an engineering draughtsman but later became a metrologist at the University of Birmingham. In the late 1950s, he constructed an interference-controlled ruling machine in a home workshop, which was able to rule high-quality 3 by 2 inch gratings. In 1990, he received the H. E. Dall prize of the BAA.

Curt Meyer was a German mathematician. He made notable contributions to number theory.

Gilbert "Gil" Cates was an American film director and television producer, director of the Geffen Playhouse, Also was a Member of Cates/Doty Productions and founding dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Cates is most known for having produced the Academy Awards telecast a record 14 times between 1990 and 2008.

Gary Scott Winick was an American filmmaker whose movies as a director include Tadpole (2002) and 13 Going on 30 (2004), and who also produced such films as Pieces of April (2003) and November (2004) through his New York City-based independent film production company InDigEnt.
