Giovanni Leone was an Italian politician, jurist and university professor. A founding member of the Christian Democracy (DC), Leone served as the 6th President of Italy from December 1971 until June 1978.

Savva Yakovlevich Kulish was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. He directed eight films between 1966 and 1994. His 1979 film Takeoff won the Silver Prize at the 11th Moscow International Film Festival. He was awarded with the People's Artist of Russia in 1995.

Bob Wollek, nicknamed "Brilliant Bob", was a race car driver from Strasbourg, France. He was killed on 16 March 2001 at age 57 in a road accident in Florida while riding a bicycle back to his accommodation after the day's practice sessions for the following day's race, the 12 Hours of Sebring. He won a total of 76 races in his career, 71 in Porsche cars.

Kenneth Buxton was a prominent leader in the medical missionary world working in the mid 20th century in Africa. Buxton was born July 19, 1909 in Hertfordshire, England and died November 1, 2001 in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
