Paul Höffer was a German composer. He was born in Barmen and died in Berlin.

Sir William Newzam Prior Nicholson was a British painter of still-life, landscape and portraits. He also worked as a printmaker in techniques including woodcut, wood-engraving and lithography, as an illustrator, as an author of children's books and as a designer for the theatre.

Hugó Veigelsberg was a noted Hungarian editor and writer who usually published under the pen name Ignotus. He was distinguished for the lyric individuality of his poems, stories, and sociological works. In addition to "Ignotus", he also wrote under the pseudonyms "Dixi," "Pató Pál," and "Tar Lorincz".

Nelson Doubleday was a U.S. book publisher and president of Doubleday Company from 1922–1946. His father Frank N. Doubleday had founded the business. His son Nelson Doubleday, Jr. followed him into it, taking part in expansion and serving as president from 1978–1986.
