Diederik Johannes Korteweg was a Dutch mathematician. He is now best remembered for his work on the Korteweg–de Vries equation, together with Gustav de Vries.

William Caspar Graustein was an American mathematician. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1910 and later became an instructor at Harvard University. In 1921, he married Mary Curtis Graustein (1884—1972), who was the first American woman to earn a mathematics Ph.D. (1917) from Radcliffe College.

Georg Neithardt was the district court director of the Munich People's Court in Germany's Weimar Republic. In February and March 1924, Neithardt presided over the trial of Adolf Hitler, Erich Ludendorff, and eight additional leaders of the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch.

Michael Francis Welch, nicknamed "Smiling Mickey", was a Major League Baseball pitcher. He stood 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall and weighed 160 pounds (73 kg). He was the third pitcher to accumulate 300 career victories. Welch was born in Brooklyn, New York, and played 13 seasons in the major leagues, three with the Troy Trojans, and 10 with the New York Gothams/Giants. He was very successful with an effective curveball, a change of pace, and a version of the screwball. During his 13 major league seasons, he posted 20 or more wins nine times, seven in succession.

Arkady Petrovich Golikov, better known as Arkady Gaidar, was a Russian Soviet writer, whose stories were very popular among Soviet children, and a Red Army commander.
