Raquel Rastenni, born Anna Rachel Rastén, was a popular Danish-Russian singer. She was born in Copenhagen, and grew up in a little apartment in the poor central part of the city. Her Jewish parents had immigrated to Denmark from Russia at the start of the 20th century. Her father was a tailor, and her mother was a seamstress.

Veikko Huovinen was a Finnish novelist and forester. As a novelist, his writing was known for its realism, pacifism, sharp intellect, and peculiar humor. He wrote 37 books. One of his books, the 1980 novel Dog Nail Clipper was adapted into a critically well-received 2004 film of the same name.

He and his sister were six-time gold medalists at the Hungarian Figure Skating Championships. The pair finished fourth at the 1936 Winter Olympics and won the bronze medal at the European Figure Skating Championships in 1936 and 1937.
