Ferenc Mádl was a Hungarian legal scholar, professor and politician, who served as the second President of the third Republic of Hungary, between 4 August 2000 and 5 August 2005. Prior to that he had been minister without portfolio between 1990 and 1993 then Minister of Education between 1993 and 1994 in the conservative cabinets of József Antall and Péter Boross.

Jiří Hájek was a Czech politician and diplomat. Together with Václav Havel, Zdeněk Mlynář, and Pavel Kohout, Hájek was one of the founding members and architects of Charter 77.

Edoardo Volterra (1904–1984) was an Italian scholar of Roman law. Son of the distinguished Italian mathematician Vito Volterra, Edoardo Volterra held a series of teaching positions at the Universities of Cagliari, Camerino, Pisa, and Bologna before finally accepting a call to the Sapienza University of Rome. He published works on a variety of topics on Roman law. His first major work was on the Collatio Legum Mosaicarum et Romanarum. Volterra later went on to publish an array of works on Roman marriage law, Roman private law, and laws of the Ancient Eastern Mediterranean World.

Denis Anthony Brian Butler, 9th Earl of Lanesborough, was an Anglo-Irish aristocrat. Lord Lanesborough also held the titles 10th Viscount Lanesborough and 12th Baron Newtown-Butler.

Ta Mok also known as Nguon Kang, was a Cambodian military chief and soldier who was a senior figure in the Khmer Rouge and the leader of the national army of Democratic Kampuchea. He was best known as "Brother Number Four" or "the Butcher". He was captured along the Thailand-Cambodia border in March 1999 by Cambodian government forces while on the run with a small band of followers and was held in government custody until his death in 2006 while awaiting his war crime trial.
