Another brother, Wiranto Arismunandar was rector of Bandung Institute of Technology (1988–1997) who was also Minister of Education and Culture (1998).

Achim Hill was a German rower who competed for the United Team of Germany in the 1960 Summer Olympics and in the 1964 Summer Olympics and for East Germany in the 1968 Summer Olympics. At the 1968 Games he represented East Germany and finished fifth in the single sculls contest.
