Augustus Benton Chafin Jr. was an American lawyer, farmer, and politician from Virginia. A member of the Republican Party, Chafin represented the 38th district in the Virginia Senate.

Victor E. "Vic" Tayback was an American actor. He is known for his role as Mel Sharples in the film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) and the television series Alice (1976–1985). The latter earned him two consecutive Golden Globe Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.

Ana Orantes Ruiz was a Spanish woman who was a victim of gender violence. After her testimony was shown on a television program, she was killed by her ex-husband, José Parejo Avivar, on December 17, 1997 at age 60. Her death provoked a national reckoning about gender violence, and as a consequence, legal protections against gender and domestic violence were added to the Criminal Code of Spain.
