Andrea Manfredi
Andrea Manfredi was an Italian cyclist, who competed for amateur team Palazzago. Manfredi was one of 189 killed onboard Lion Air Flight 610 when it crashed into the Java Sea shortly after takeoff.
Ulrike Maier
Ulrike Maier was a World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria, a two-time World Champion in Super-G. She competed at the 1988 Winter Olympics and the 1992 Winter Olympics.
Angélique Duchemin
Angélique Duchemin was a French professional boxer known as "La princesse des rings.". She won all 14 of her professional fights, including three by knockout, and was World Boxing Federation featherweight champion.
Mohamed Bouazizi
Tarek el-Tayeb Mohamed Bouazizi was a Tunisian street vendor who set himself on fire on 17 December 2010, which became a catalyst for the Tunisian Revolution and the wider Arab Spring against autocratic regimes. His self-immolation was in response to the confiscation of his wares and the harassment and humiliation inflicted on him by a municipal official and her aides.
Nick Berg
Nicholas Evan Berg was an American freelance radio-tower repairman who went to Iraq after the United States' invasion of Iraq. He was abducted and beheaded according to a video released in May 2004 by Islamist militants in response to the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse involving the United States Army and Iraqi prisoners. The CIA claimed Berg was murdered by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. The decapitation video was released on the internet, reportedly from London to a Malaysian-hosted homepage by the Islamist organization Muntada al-Ansar.
Bernardo Ribeiro
Bernardo Salim Ribeiro was a Brazilian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. As a young player he moved to Europe, where he played in Italy, Albania, and Finland. He also played in the Australian first division. Upon returning to Brazil, he died in the aftermath of a match for an amateur club after suffering cardiac arrest.

Paulo Paulino Guajajara was a Brazilian indigenous "forest guardian". He was killed by illegal loggers in an ambush.
Birgit Dressel
Birgit Dressel was a West German heptathlete. Dressel participated in the 1984 Olympic heptathlon, where she ended ninth, and was fourth in the 1986 European Championships. She died at age 26 due to sudden multiple organ failure, which was at least partly triggered by long-term steroid abuse.
Cheb Hasni
Cheb Hasni, born Hasni Chakroun, was an Algerian raï singer. He was popular across the Maghreb, having reached the height of his career in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was the son of a welder and grew up in a working-class family where he was one of seven children. Hasni is most well known for his love songs, but he also dealt with taboo subjects such as divorce, sex and alcohol. He was murdered in 1994. Hasni's controversial lyrical content had drawn the ire of fanatic Islamist fundamentalists in Algeria and it is believed he was murdered as a result.
