Hugh Roe O'Donnell, also known as Red Hugh O'Donnell, was a sixteenth-century Irish nobleman. He became ruler of Tyrconnell in 1593 after a succession dispute among the O'Donnell dynasty, and after escaping a five-year imprisonment in Dublin Castle by the English. Along with his father-in-law Hugh O'Neill of Tyrone, he led the Irish alliance in the Nine Years' War against the English government in Ireland. Hugh Roe led an Irish army to victory in the Battle of Curlew Pass. After defeat in the Siege of Kinsale, he travelled to Spain to seek support from Philip III. Unsuccessful, he died in Spain and was succeeded by his younger brother Rory O'Donnell. He is sometimes also known as Aodh Ruadh II or Red Hugh II, especially in his native County Donegal.

Anna Chalon, also known under the stage name Kiddo, is a French singer-songwriter, guitarist, and performer. She wrote and performed the song Run and Hide for the film Je l'aimais, based on the book by Anna Gavalda. She composes and performs the title Hush Hush played during the end credits of No et moi based on the novel of Delphine de Vigan. She is the daughter of Zabou Breitman and sister of Antonin Chalon.

Sukumar Ray was a Bengali writer and poet from the Indian subcontinent. He is remembered mainly for his writings for the children. He was the son of children's story writer Upendrakishore Ray, the father of Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray and grandfather of Indian filmmaker Sandip Ray.

Olga Aleksandrovna Fedchenko or Olga Fedtschenko was a Russian botanist. Rosa fedtschenkoana, which is found in Asia, was named in her honour.

Xie Jun is a Chinese chess grandmaster. She had two separate reigns as Women's World Chess Champion, from 1991 to 1996 and again from 1999 to 2001. Xie is one of three women to have at least two separate reigns, besides Elisaveta Bykova and Hou Yifan. Xie Jun is the current president of the Chinese Chess Association.
