Paul Gratzik was a German dramatist and novelist. He came to wider public attention in 2011 as the subject of the documentary film Vaterlandsverräter by Annekatrin Hendel about his past as a Stasi informer.

Juan Carlos Romero Hicks is a Mexican politician and elected official, member of the National Action Party  PAN, and a Federal Senator since August 29, 2012. He was the Director General of the Mexican National Science and Technology Council (CONACyT) from 2006 to 2011. He served as Governor of Guanajuato from 2000 to 2006. From 1991 to 1999 he served as Chancellor of the University of Guanajuato.

Jan Mydlář (1572–1664) was a 17th-century executioner from Bohemia. He is mostly known for his performance of the 1621 execution of 27 Bohemian Revolt leaders, and is remembered by his red hood-like mask he donned when performing his executions.

Wanyan Zonggan, personal name Woben, formally known as Prince of Liao (遼王), was an imperial prince of the Jurchen–led Jin Dynasty. There is no record of his birth year. Wanyan Zonggan was a Grand Preceptor of Jin.

Charles II, also known as Charles the Lame, was King of Naples, Count of Provence and Forcalquier (1285–1309), Prince of Achaea (1285–1289), and Count of Anjou and Maine (1285–1290); he also styled himself King of Albania and claimed the Kingdom of Jerusalem from 1285. He was the son of Charles I of Anjou—one of the most powerful European monarchs in the second half of the 13th century—and Beatrice of Provence. His father granted Charles the Principality of Salerno in the Kingdom of Sicily in 1272 and made him regent in Provence and Forcalquier in 1279.

Alfonso of León, Lord of Molina was an infante (prince) of León and Castile, the son of King Alfonso IX of León and his second wife Queen Berengaria of Castile. He was the brother of King Ferdinand III of Castile and León, and father of Queen Maria of Molina, wife of King Sancho IV. He became Lord of Molina and Mesa after his first marriage to Mafalda González de Lara, the heiress of those lands.

Gavril Krastevich was a Bulgarian politician and historian, and the first translator of Benjamin Franklin into Bulgarian. He was born in Kotel in 1817.
