William Frederick Waldegrave, 9th Earl Waldegrave, VD, PC, styled Viscount Chewton between 1854 and 1859, was a British Conservative politician. He served as Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard, government chief whip in the House of Lords, between 1896 and 1905.

Bernard Rands is a British-American contemporary classical music composer. He studied music and English literature at the University of Wales, Bangor, and composition with Pierre Boulez and Bruno Maderna in Darmstadt, Germany, and with Luigi Dallapiccola and Luciano Berio in Milan, Italy. He held residencies at Princeton University, the University of Illinois, and the University of York before emigrating to the United States in 1975; he became a U.S. citizen in 1983. In 1984, Rands's Canti del Sole, premiered by Paul Sperry, Zubin Mehta, and the New York Philharmonic, won the Pulitzer Prize for Music. He has since taught at the University of California, San Diego, the Juilliard School, Yale University, and Boston University. From 1988 to 2005 he taught at Harvard University, where he is Walter Bigelow Rosen Professor of Music Emeritus. Axel Gustaf Adlercreutz was a Swedish politician, civil servant, President of the Göta Court of Appeal, Minister in the Cabinet, Member of Parliament 1847–66 and 1877–80, Prime Minister for Justice 1870–74.

Alexandre Desgoffe (1805–1882) was a French landscape painter born in Paris. He studied under Ingres, and travelled in Italy from 1837 to 1842. He usually introduced into his landscapes historical or mythological incidents, and he also painted some Biblical subjects. The Luxembourg Gallery has his Fury of Orestes, and the Museum of Lyons his Cyclops. He decorated the Salle des Etudes of the Bibliothèque Nationale in 1868. He died in Paris in 1882.

Sir Thomas Bodley was an English diplomat and scholar who founded the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
