He has won the men's singles title at the Canadian National Badminton Championships in 2015. In 2011, he trained at the Gopichand Badminton Academy in India.

Tomoya Ohtani is a Japanese composer and record producer who works for video game company Sega, most notably as a sound director for the Sonic the Hedgehog series since the mid–2000s. Ohtani also performs live musical pieces from the Sonic series on bass guitar, often alongside fellow Sega musician Jun Senoue.
