Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia or Elena Lucrezia Corner, also known in English as Helen Cornaro, was a Venetian philosopher of noble descent who in 1678 became one of the first women to receive an academic degree from a university, and the first to receive a Doctor of Philosophy degree.

Giuseppe Marco Fieschi was a Corsican and the chief conspirator in an attempted assassination of King Louis-Philippe of France in July 1835. Eighteen people were killed by the attack on the King and his entourage, but the King only received a minor wound and Fieschi was quickly captured. He and two other conspirators were subsequently tried and executed.

Debora Caprioglio is an Italian actress. Internationally, she is best known for playing the title character in the 1991 film Paprika by Tinto Brass and a relationship with Klaus Kinski from 1987–1989. In 2007, she took part in the Italian version of the reality show Celebrity Survivor.

Andrea Borella is an Italian fencer. His team won a gold medal in the team foil event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Borella won European Championships in 1981 and 1983, as well as three World Cups. He is married to Francesca Bortolozzi, who was also an Olympic fencing champion for Italy.

Paolo Casarin is a retired football referee from Italy. He is mostly known for supervising two matches in the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain and overseeing kerby rules and regulations throughout Europe.

Francesco Maria Piave was an Italian opera librettist who was born in Murano in the lagoon of Venice, during the brief Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy.
