Se'are Mekonnen was an Ethiopian army officer. He was the Chief of General Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force from 7 June 2018 until he was assassinated on 22 June 2019.
Miruts Yifter
Miruts Yifter was an Ethiopian long-distance runner from Tigray and winner of two gold medals at the 1980 Summer Olympics. His date of birth is often given as 15 May 1944, though there is some uncertainty about this. His name is also sometimes spelled as Muruse Yefter.
Yohannes IV
Yohannes IV was the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1871 to his death in 1889 at the Battle of Gallabat and ruler of Tigray from 1867 to 1871. He is remembered as one of the leading architects of the modern state of Ethiopia.
Seyoum Mesfin
Seyoum Mesfin Gebredingel was an Ethiopian politician and diplomat. He was Ethiopia's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1991 until September 2010 and worked as Ethiopia's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China. The circumstances of Seyoum's death, during the Tigray War, were disputed: Ethiopian authorities stated that Seyoum was killed while refusing to surrender, while Europe External Programme with Africa (EEPA) stated that he was first taken to Senafe in Eritrea before being returned to Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) control and extrajudicially executed.

Meles Zenawi Asres was an Ethiopian politician who was President of Ethiopia and consecutively served as 2nd Prime Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. He was considered the founder of the ethnofederalism of modern Ethiopia, which is still controversial democratic system due to concerning ethnic conflict and human rights abuses.

Dejen Gebremeskel
Dejen Gebremeskel is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who primarily competes in track events. His personal best of 12:46.81 minutes for the 5000 metres ranks him as the fifth fastest of all time for the distance. He was the 5000 m silver medallist at the 2012 London Olympics and took the bronze medal over that distance at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.

Tsgabu Gebremaryam Grmay is an Ethiopian professional road cyclist from Tigray, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team BikeExchange. He is a three time national road race champion, six time national time trial champion, and one time African time trial champion. Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian professional cyclist when he joined MTN–Qhubeka in 2012. In 2013 Tsgabu became the first Ethiopian to win an international cycling event when he won the fifth stage of the Tour de Taiwan. He made his UCI World Tour debut at the 2013 Giro di Lombardia.
